Abstract In order to solve the problem of structural damage during braking process a rocket sled supersonic water bucket, which affects effect, it is proposed use FEM fluid-solid coupling calculation technology analyze bucket entering brake. The results show that limit state After enters brake for 0.06ms, stress at entrance position exceeds yield material, and structure severely deformed damaged; under normal conditions, 0.4ms, plate bends, seriously 2ms, destroyed 3ms. Using penalty function fluid-structure method, numerical analysis model was carried out two working conditions. Due unreasonable design braking. It recommended increase strength inlet side plate.
